i was late, as usual. so i was suppose to meet wan jee for short bible study session at junction 8 la, which is 15 mins by bus, but i left my house only at the time we were suppose to meet. (oops)
anyway, so i got a cab, and the driver asked me in mandarin "turn left or right??", cuz both ways can go j8. well u see, my brain works in such a way that i have to tink of it in english first, then translate to mandarin. plus, the uncle was already at the junction, so there wasn't much time for me to think. so i said in english "uncle turn right". so after he turned, he asked me in mandarin "u can't tell left from right in mandarin ah??". i was stunned! hahhahaa!!! so i told him "uncle, i know left and right in mandarin, but i need to translate it from english in my mind, so take a bit long to say it out la. say in english faster ma." haha! then guess what....
the uncle taught me a method to say left and right in mandarin more quickly! he was like "i always tell kids that ah... bla bla bla".. erm... i was obviously not a kid -_-
anyway, what he taught me was, how to say in english "ni(3) dui(4) le(4)." so in english. it's "you are right." so therefore, everytime i wanna say "right" in mandarin, i just think of "you are right", then "right" in mandarin would be "you". absolutely brilliant! haha! and to think that i totally understood what he was saying only after the whole explanation. whoops. hee =D
so next time, pls ask me what's "right" in mandarin! i can ans you -almost- immediately :D:D:D
